Miss Gia Scott-Heron

About Gia

“One Dream One Word “Spoken.”

Since 10 years old, Miss Gia Louise Mitsuko Scott-Heron, also known as “Miss Gia” among friends and fans, has been writing songs and poetry. She began pursuing poetry full-time after graduating with Honors from Pitzer College in 2002. Her major, not surprisingly, was English World Literature and Creative Writing. She has performed at the most popular poetry venues throughout  her hometown of Los Angeles including ‘Da Poetry Lounge, SpokenFunk, Spreadin’ Love N Spoken Word, The World Stage and The Regent to name a few. In 2005, she was invited to host A Night of Spoken Word and Jazz for 102.3 FM KJLH.

Miss Gia is an accomplished writer and author who has published three books of poetry: “Introducing Me“, “Scott Free“, and “Contagias.” She also produced a compilation album entitled “Souletree“, featuring 12 of her favorite poems accompanied with music.

Currently hot on the spoken word scene, Miss Gia can be seen blazing stages alongside LA’s emerging and leading poets. She is working on her second album “Different from the Majority” which should be complete in 2015.
